Travel grants for early-career scientists

Deadline: October 31, 2026 (with the closing of the abstract submission)

Notification on travel grants: December 1, 2026

Travel grant:

• Subsidy of travel expenses up to
  • €500 for domestic travel, 
  • €800 for travel within Europe, 
  • €1,300 for international travel outside Europe 
• Registration fees

The travel grant will be paid via reimbursement of the expenses after the conference, with the exception of the registration fee, which will be waived. Only the actual costs (based on receipts) will be reimbursed, up to the specified limit. The guidelines of the University of Bonn must be observed: economy class, accommodation expenses in line with the reserved hotel block rates, etc. - in case of any doubts, please contact us before making your travel arrangements!

Eligibility:

• Graduate or undergraduate student
• Submission of an abstract for an oral presentation to the 2nd Bonn Conference for Mathematical Life Sciences

• Confirmation of abstract submission
• Personal statement (1 page)
  • Explain the relevance of the conference for your academic work and career
  • Provide a justification for why the grant is necessary for your participation.
• Up-to-date CV
• At least one letter of recommendation by a professor, lecturer or research group leader

Selection criteria:

1. Scientific merit of the abstract and its relevance to the conference topics
2. Significance of participation for the applicant’s academic advancement
3. Demonstrated need for financial assistance
