From March 16 to 19 2026, we are hosting for the 2nd time the Bonn Conference on Mathematical Life Sciences in the beautiful city of Bonn. The conference will take place at the Auditorium Centre Poppelsdorf.

The Bonn Conference on Mathematical Life Sciences is envisioned as an international gathering, dedicated to research and applications at the interface of mathematics and life sciences. We aim to delve into a comprehensive array of topics, including but not limited to method development & applications in:

  • Mathematical Biology
  • Modelling of Cellular Pathways
  • Tumor Microenvironment
  • Organoids and Stem Cell Biology
  • Infectious Disease Modelling
  • Single-Cell Analysis
  • Bioinformatics and Biostatistics
  • Modelling of Endocrine Systems

Bringing together this broad range of topics, offering a rich ground for interdisciplinary exchange, is a unique feature of the Bonn Conference for Mathematical Life Sciences.

Workshops

Adjacent to the conference, we offer three workshops.

Workshop on multiscale infectious disease modeling

March 18 14:00 to March 20 12:30

We will use the software framework MEmilio which has preimplemented mathematical-epidemiological models ranging from simple compartmental models through metapopulation to agent-based and hybrid agent-metapopulation-based models.

Introductory Workshop: pyPESTO and AMICI

March 19 14:30 - 17:30

In this afternoon workshop, you'll learn the basics of using pyPESTO and AMICI for simulating and analyzing dynamic models. We’ll cover how AMICI can simulate models and perform sensitivity analysis, and how pyPESTO helps with optimization and uncertainty analysis. The session will help you get started using these tools in your own projects—no prior experience needed. Additional topics can be included based on participant interest and feedback.

Workshop on Mathematical Biology in Julia using Catalyst.jl

March 19 14:30-17:30

In this workshop, we will demonstrate the Catalyst.jl tool for implementation, simulation, and analysis of chemical reaction network models. We will also showcase a wide range of Julia packages that have been integrated into Catalyst (as well as being applicable across other domains), including the PEtab.jl parameter estimation package. The aim is to offer a comprehensive overview of the package ecosystem available for mathematical biology within the Julia programming language.
